About the Event
AACCCS-ISSAMBA Centre kindly invites you to join this one on one conversation with Constable Alex Omoding. Alex Omoding was born in Kololo, was raised and educated in Kampala, Uganda. In 2013 Alex applied and was hired as a Constable for the Oak Bay Police Department. In 2014 he was seconded to the Regional Crime Unit, where he gained investigative experience and knowledge of covert operations. After the unit closed, Alex returned to Oak Bay, where he performed an Acting Sergeant role and as well represented the Oak Bay Police department on The Greater Victoria Police Diversity Advisory committee. After 7 years of serving with the Oak Bay Police Department, Alex has joined the Saanich Police Department to seek greater opportunities, challenges, personal career growth and development. Over the years, Alex has dedicated himself to being a role model for the youth in the Black communities. Alex is determined to ensure meaningful representation and to promote diversity and inclusion in his working environment. Representation in the police force is one of the heartfelt topics we discussed during our ten months long Black in BC Convener Pilot project. Join us on 8th February as we chat with Alex Omoding about his journey in the police force and how our community can promote meaningful representation.
