La Teranga Food Bank
Researches identified that Canadian of African descent were disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, in response to that, AACCCS-ISSAMBA CENTRE launched la Teranga Food Distribution. As a group of organizations, we identified the need for culturally relevant food items as the African descent community’s needs were not being represented. Specifically targeting the African descent community but open to all British Columbians. La Teranga Food Distribution provides culturally relevant food hampers to its members in order to ensure that no person goes hungry.
Each food hamper contains:

Kitchen staples like oil, sugar, flour, rice and other
Hamper distribution is twice a month, with scheduled collections in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
