Mentorship Program
Mentorship & Skill Advancement Program
The Black Women Mentorship & Skills Advancement Programme will provide an avenue for Black women to build intergenerational networks and relationships through access to mentorship from accomplished and experienced women of African descent in BC, as well as in-demand skills advancement workshops.
The BUILD Programme is scheduled to run for 13 weeks beginning June 18 – September 17, 2022 and includes two key components: a mentorship component and a capacity development component. 10 women of African descent in BC will receive free skills training, as well as have the privilege of engaging with five mentors. Workshops will be held on Saturdays and will run for 3 hours, and will be hybrid (virtual and in-person) options.
Training will be on skills such as project management, excel, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, grant writing, proposal writing, event planning, graphic design, UX design, financial planning and investing, and navigating the job market. Additionally, there will be a dedicated career coach/counsellor available to the cohort. Mentees will also be provided with a participation stipend.
